Life expectancy in Diabetes 2
Major
statements are
i) From ageing research,
information is coming that diabetes 2 may, in some cases, be
beneficial Poster
ii) The effects of blood pressure,
HBA1c and cholesterin can be quantified by a simple formula

Gene expression in colon cancer (in cooperation
with the Inst.of Nutrition Research, FSU Jena)
Franziska Jahns, Anne Wilhelm, Michael Glei, Maria
Radeva
with the technical help of Gabriele Günther and
Silke Schulz
These are studies using human primary tissue, obtained from the
University Hospital Jena (Dr. H. Mothes) after colon cancer surgery.
Major statements
are
i) The Defensin A6
gene is
heavily overexpressed in adenoma.
This overexpression is reverted almost completely during progression to
fully blown colon carcinoma 2010
BMC Cancer 10: 588
ii) Predictions derived from
NIH's database dbEST agree well with data obtained from human
individuals 2008
Curr Pharm Biot 9 509 - 514
iii) Gene expression, as
determined
by quantitative real time PCR, does often, but not always reflect
protein
expression, as determined by quantitative Western blots
iv) The expression of the
housekeeping
genes ß-actin and GUS are extremely stable at ages from 53
to 85
